Update: Thammasat University has discussed an academic collaboration with academic partnership network.

 Leaders of Thammasat and UC Merced Discuss Expanding Academic and Student Exchanges

     On 6 July 2026, Professor Dr. Supasawad Chardchawarn, Rector of Thammasat University, welcomed Mr. Scott Hagg, Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management, and Mr. Garett Gietzen, Executive Director of International Affairs and Senior International Officer at the University of California, Merced (UC Merced), USA, during their visit to Thammasat University’s Tha Prachan Campus.

     The meeting was also attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supreedee Rittironk, Vice Rector for International Affairs, and Dr. Thanet Makjamroen, University of California Education Abroad Program (UCEAP) Liaison Officer in Thailand.

     The visit reaffirmed the longstanding strategic partnership between Thammasat University and UC. During the meeting, both institutions reviewed the current status of their student exchange programs and noted a decline in participation in both directions. They also exchanged views on the challenges affecting mobility, including visa issues, rising costs, and the growing preference among students for internship opportunities over traditional exchange programs.

     In terms of academic partnership development, UC Merced is currently collaborating with the School of Global Studies at Thammasat University through a Summer Internship Program. Both sides identified strategic opportunities to expand internship programs through broader university-level collaboration.

     Additionally, UC Merced expressed interest in co-developing 2+2 and 2+3 academic pathway models in Engineering. In response, Thammasat affirmed the readiness of both the Thammasat School of Engineering and the Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT) to engage in further discussions and explore areas for potential cooperation.

     The visit underscored the value of the longstanding academic partnership between Thammasat University and UC, reaffirming their mutual commitment to continued collaboration and paving the way for deeper cooperation across a broader range of academic disciplines and university-wide initiatives.

ธรรมศาสตร์ หารือแคลิฟอร์เนีย เมอร์เซด ขยายความร่วมมือทางวิชาการและแลกเปลี่ยนนักศึกษา

     เมื่อวันที่ 6 กรกฎาคม 2569 ศ. ดร.ศุภสวัสดิ์ ชัชวาลย์ อธิการบดีมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ ให้การต้อนรับ Mr. Scott Hagg ตำแหน่ง Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management พร้อมด้วย Mr. Garett Gietzen ตำแหน่ง Executive Director of International Affairs and Senior International Officer จากมหาวิทยาลัยแคลิฟอร์เนีย เมอร์เซด สหรัฐอเมริกา ในระหว่างการเยือนมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ ท่าพระจันทร์ โดยมี รศ. ดร. สุปรีดี ฤทธิรงค์ รองอธิการบดีฝ่ายวิเทศสัมพันธ์ และ ดร.ธเนศ เมฆจําเริญ ผู้ประสานงานและอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษาโครงการแลกเปลี่ยนนักศึกษามหาวิทยาลัยแคลิฟอร์เนียในประเทศไทย เข้าร่วมหารือในครั้งนี้ด้วย

     การเยือนครั้งนี้ได้ตอกย้ำความเป็นหุ้นส่วนเชิงยุทธศาสตร์อันยาวนานระหว่างมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์และมหาวิทยาลัยแคลิฟอร์เนีย (UC) โดยทั้งสองสถาบันได้ร่วมแลกเปลี่ยนข้อคิดเห็นเกี่ยวกับสถานการปัจจุบันของโครงการแลกเปลี่ยนนักศึกษา ซึ่งพบว่าจำนวนนักศึกษาที่เข้าร่วมโครงการมีแนวโน้มลดลงทั้งในส่วนของขาเข้าและขาออก นอกจากนี้ ยังได้แลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็นเกี่ยวกับปัจจัยที่ส่งผลกระทบต่อการเข้าร่วมโครงการ เช่น ปัญหาด้านวีซ่า ค่าใช้จ่ายที่เพิ่มสูงขึ้น รวมถึงแนวโน้มที่นักศึกษาให้ความสนใจในการเข้าร่วมโครงการฝึกงานมากกว่าโครงการแลกเปลี่ยนแบบดั้งเดิม

     ปัจจุบันมหาวิทยาลัยแคลิฟอร์เนีย เมอร์เซด มีความร่วมมือกับวิทยาลัยโลกคดีศึกษา (School of Global Studies) ผ่านโครงการฝึกงานภาคฤดูร้อน (Summer Internship Program) และเพื่อเป็นการพัฒนาความร่วมมือทางวิชาการ ทั้งสองฝ่ายเห็นพ้องถึงโอกาสเชิงยุทธศาสตร์ในการขยายโครงการฝึกงานให้ครอบคลุมหลากหลายคณะในระดับมหาวิทยาลัยมากยิ่งขึ้น

     นอกจากนี้ มหาวิทยาลัยแคลิฟอร์เนีย เมอร์เซด ได้แสดงความสนใจในการร่วมพัฒนาหลักสูตรความร่วมมือทางการศึกษาในรูปแบบ 2+2 และ 2+3 ด้านวิศวกรรมศาสตร์ โดยมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ได้ยืนยันความพร้อมของทั้งคณะวิศวกรรมศาสตร์ และสถาบันเทคโนโลยีนานาชาติสิรินธร (SIIT) เพื่อการหารือเพิ่มเติมถึงแนวทางการทำความร่วมมือที่มีศักยภาพร่วมกันในอนาคต

     การเยือนครั้งนี้สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงความมั่นคงในความเป็นหุ้นส่วนทางวิชาการอันยาวนานระหว่างมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ และมหาวิทยาลัยแคลิฟอร์เนีย (UC) พร้อมทั้งเน้นย้ำถึงเจตนารมณ์ร่วมกันในการสานต่อความร่วมมือทางวิชาการอย่างต่อเนื่อง เพื่อเป็นการปูทางไปสู่การขยายความร่วมมือในเชิงลึกให้ครอบคลุมสาขาวิชาที่หลากหลาย รวมถึงการดำเนินโครงการและกิจกรรมในระดับมหาวิทยาลัยที่เพิ่มขึ้น

Thammasat Explores Academic Ties with NU, Sultanate of Oman

     On 25 June 2026, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supreedee Rittironk, Vice Rector for International Affairs, welcomed a delegation from the National University of Science and Technology (NU), Sultanate of Oman. The visiting delegation was led by Dr. Ali bin Saud Al Bimani, Vice-Chancellor, and included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and the Dean of the College of Engineering. Thammasat executives from the Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT) and the Chulabhorn International College of Medicine (CICM) also joined the meeting.

     The discussion opened with presentations on each university’s academic profile, institutional strengths, and strategic priorities, followed by an exchange of ideas on potential areas for collaboration. The NU delegation expressed particular interest in internship opportunities, especially within the industrial sector. In response, the Vice Rector outlined the requirements and procedures for NU students wishing to pursue short-term programs at Thammasat University.

     During the meeting, CICM representatives introduced the college’s short-term programs, including study trips and other academic enrichment activities. Meanwhile, SIIT showcased its range of international opportunities, including one-semester and one-month exchange programs, short-term research placements, and its buddy program designed to support international students.

     This visit marked a significant step toward strengthening institutional ties between Thammasat and the National University of Science and Technology. By exploring avenues for academic exchange and student mobility, both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to fostering meaningful collaboration and creating beneficial opportunities for students, faculty, and researchers.

ธรรมศาสตร์ หารือความร่วมมือทางวิชาการร่วมกับ NU รัฐสุลต่านโอมาน

     เมื่อวันที่ 25 มิถุนายน 2569 รศ. ดร.สุปรีดี ฤทธิรงค์ รองอธิการบดีฝ่ายวิเทศสัมพันธ์ มธ. ให้การต้อนรับผู้แทนจาก the National University of Science and Technology (NU) รัฐสุลต่านโอมาน นำโดย Dr. Ali bin Saud Al Bimani ตำแหน่ง Vice-Chancellor พร้อมด้วย Deputy Vice-Chancellor และคณบดีคณะวิศวกรรมศาสตร์ ในระหว่างการเยือนมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ ศูนย์รังสิต ในโอกาสนี้ มีผู้บริหารจากสถาบันเทคโนโลยีนานาชาติสิรินธร (SIIT) และวิทยาลัยแพทยศาสตร์นานาชาติจุฬาภรณ์ (CICM) เข้าร่วมหารือ 

     การหารือได้มีการนำเสนอข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับภาพรวมทางวิชาการ จุดแข็งของสถาบัน และประเด็นยุทธศาสตร์ที่สำคัญของแต่ละมหาวิทยาลัย ก่อนจะแลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็นเกี่ยวกับแนวทางความร่วมมือที่อาจเกิดขึ้นในอนาคต โดยคณะผู้แทนจาก NU แสดงความสนใจเป็นพิเศษด้านโอกาสการฝึกงานของนักศึกษา โดยเฉพาะในภาคอุตสาหกรรม ทั้งนี้ รองอธิการบดีฯ ได้ให้ข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับหลักเกณฑ์และขั้นตอน สำหรับนักศึกษา NU ที่ประสงค์เข้าร่วมโครงการระยะสั้น ณ มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์

     ระหว่างการประชุม ผู้แทนจาก CICM ได้นำเสนอข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับโครงการระยะสั้นของหน่วยงาน ซึ่งครอบคลุมการศึกษาดูงานและกิจกรรมเสริมสร้างประสบการณ์ทางวิชาการรูปแบบต่าง ๆ ขณะที่ SIIT ได้นำเสนอโอกาสด้านการศึกษานานาชาติสำหรับนักศึกษา อาทิ โครงการแลกเปลี่ยนระยะเวลา 1 ภาคการศึกษาและ 1 เดือน โครงการฝึกปฏิบัติงานวิจัยระยะสั้น ตลอดจนโครงการ Buddy Program ที่จัดขึ้นเพื่อสนับสนุนและอำนวยความสะดวกแก่นักศึกษาต่างชาติ

     การเยือนครั้งนี้นับเป็นอีกก้าวสำคัญในการเสริมสร้างความสัมพันธ์และความร่วมมือระหว่างมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ และ National University of Science and Technology ซึ่งการหารือถึงแนวทางการส่งเสริมความร่วมมือด้านวิชาการและการแลกเปลี่ยนนักศึกษานี้ เป็นสิ่งสะท้อนถึงความมุ่งมั่นร่วมกันในการพัฒนาความร่วมมือทางวิชาการที่ก่อให้เกิดประโยชน์อย่างเป็นรูปธรรมแก่นักศึกษา คณาจารย์ และนักวิจัยของทั้งสองฝ่ายในอนาคต
