90th Anniversary Celebration Welcomes 10,000 Athletes for “Unity of Diversity, Victory for All” Games

     Thammasat University celebrates the 90th anniversary of its establishment by hosting the 50th University Sports Competition of Thailand, known as the “Thammasat Games 2025.” Under the concept “Unity of Diversity, Victory for All,” the event aims to enhance the potential of Thai athletes to reach a global level, while emphasizing the importance of acknowledging diversity and respecting differences to foster unity. This will be represented through the emblem of the competition. Additionally, the event supports the promotion of well-being in accordance with the policies of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. The competition will take place from January 9 to January 18, 2025, at Thammasat University, Rangsit Center, featuring a total of 422 medals to be contested.

     Associate Professor Dr. Chusit Pradabpet, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the University Games of Thailand, stated that the 50th Thailand University Sports Competition marks the celebration of 50 years of a grand and historically significant sporting event. This event will take place at Thammasat University, Rangsit Center, and is considered important both in terms of sports competition and in fostering relationships among universities across the country. Regarding the competition standards, the committee has updated its regulations to be appropriate for the current circumstances, prioritizing fairness and the safety of athletes to ensure that all competitors are treated equally without discrimination. This aims to create the most transparent and just atmosphere possible while emphasizing the promotion of athletes’ skills and potential in all aspects. The objective of this competition is not only to seek victory but also to build the capabilities of athletes as a foundation for advancing to international competitions.

     Professor Dr. Supasawad Chardchawarn, the Rector of Thammasat University, the Chairman of the organizing committee for the 50th University Games of Thailand, known as the “Thammasat Games,” stated that the University Games of Thailand is a grand sporting event among higher education institutions in Thailand, supervised by the University Games of Thailand, an agency under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation. This year marks the 90th anniversary of Thammasat University, which has the honor of hosting the 50th University Games of Thailand under the name “Thammasat Games 2025.” This is the fifth time that Thammasat University has been the host of this event, reflecting the capability of the venue to accommodate athletes and spectators from across the country. This event is significant for promoting and developing university-level athletes to grow and achieve excellence at both national and international levels, as well as for fostering networks of relationships and unity among various universities and the private sector involved in sports, to promote the sustainable development of the nation’s sports industry.

     “Furthermore, Thammasat University has coordinated with Pathum Thani Province, receiving collaboration in various aspects, including facilitating traffic management, establishing measures to control the prices of goods and services in the area, and enhancing the efficiency of the public transportation system. This university sports competition is considered an important factor in stimulating the provincial economy as well,” stated Professor Dr. Supasawad.

     As a university recognized for its openness to ideas, rights, freedoms, and democracy, this competition underscores the importance of diversity and the acceptance of differences in sports among all individuals. It allows students with diverse abilities from all regions of the country to fully showcase their potential without being limited by social constraints or backgrounds. Everyone will receive equal recognition and support, representing a collective effort from all sectors to achieve a common goal of sustainable success and to elevate Thailand’s sports industry to a global level.

     Regarding the preparations of the host for the competition, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ronnakorn Bunmee, Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Legal Affairs, stated that they have been preparing since the selection of the competition venue, accommodations in the surrounding area, and various sports equipment, through effective management practices. This includes communication management to ensure that all parties receive accurate and timely information, which is considered a high standard and is recognized at the national level.

   ▪️ Competition Venues and Accommodation: In addition to the main competition venue located within Thammasat University, Rangsit Center, nine additional competition fields have been arranged in the nearby area, equipped with comprehensive sports facilities to support various types of competitions. Furthermore, 50 selected accommodation options have been prepared in close proximity to Thammasat University, facilitating convenient and swift travel for participants to the competition venues. There are also green spaces available to enhance the relaxation experience for all attendees.

   ▪️ Technology: There is a display of the competition results on the Thammasat Games website for the 50th edition, featuring a map of the sports venues and real-time competition results. A voting game event titled “University of the Heart” has been organized, designed to enhance enjoyment and foster participation from everyone.

   ▪️ Safety and Health: An emergency plan has been prepared by deploying security personnel at all points and ensuring medical readiness from Thammasat University Hospital in case of injuries or accidents during the competition.

   ▪️  Staff and Personnel: There are trained personnel in service provision and adherence to safety measures, such as medical assistance staff, event organizers, and various coordinating officers.

     “Furthermore, this event has over 2,500 volunteer students from Thammasat University participating as part of the Thammasat Games initiative. The students have played a crucial role in every aspect, from planning and coordination to executing their duties on the actual day of the event. The dedication and collaboration of these students not only contributed to the success of the event but also reflected their public spirit and commitment to creating a better society in the future, which has always been the core value of the Thammasat community,” said Asst. Prof. Dr. Ronnakorn.

     Therefore, on this occasion, AIS is extremely pleased to be part of supporting the “Thammasat Games,” which brings together students from universities across the country to meet and exchange experiences in the realm of sports. AIS aims to enhance the capabilities of the network for participants, facilitating communication, sharing images, videos, or live event atmospheres, as well as managing the competitions on a digital platform.

     Importantly, the company has the honor of being the Official Broadcaster for the live broadcast and rerun of the “Thammasat Games” through AIS PLAY, available on both the application and the AIS PLAY BOX, as well as on 3BB GIGATV. Live broadcast is a coverage of 12 different sports, with customized channels for each sport, complemented by a professional commentary team to enhance the viewing experience throughout the event. This will effectively convey the spirit of the competition to public, in alignment with the organizers’ intentions.
