Thammasat Games: Referees Vow on Fair Play

The host of the University Sports Competition has revealed measures for transparency in the selection of referees and the adjudication of events, and has published an interview with the chairman of the referees’ committee from the Volleyball Association of Thailand, along with referees and athletes, while promoting the spirit of fair competition.

The role of the referee has a significant impact on sporting competitions, as the referee holds the highest authority on the field and is responsible for ensuring that the game is conducted according to the rules. Athletes must respect the referee’s decisions, which are to be considered final. In each sport, referees will be selected by the association and experts to ensure that the competition adheres to the established standards.

Mr. Songsak Charoenpong, the Chairman of the Referees Committee from the Volleyball Association of Thailand, revealed during an interview that the preparation and selection of referees for the volleyball competition at the “Thammasat Games” have been managed according to international standards. All selected referees have undergone training and practice from the association and are experienced officials who meet high-level standards, specifically chosen to officiate at this event of the Thai University Sports.

Mr. Songsak further stated, “All referees have undergone intensive training and have been selected, ensuring that the decisions in every competition will be fair, transparent, and in accordance with the principles of international sports.” He also affirmed that fairness in officiating is a crucial element that helps build trust among athletes and all teams involved in the competition.

Mr. Chinpat Limgun, a badminton referee from the Badminton Association of Thailand, stated that he was selected by the Badminton Association of Thailand to serve as a referee. This selection process involved training, examinations, and the accumulation of experience in officiating badminton competitions, a sport that requires precision in observation and judgment. Mistakes in visual perception can easily occur if one lacks caution. It is essential to employ discernment, keen observation, and extensive experience.

Regarding the badminton competition, Mr. Kritipat Preopring, a badminton athlete from Walailak University, expressed his feelings about the competition, stating that it was smooth. The referees demonstrated a high level of fairness and impartiality. If the line judges were unable to make a clear decision, the referees would adjudicate based on what they observed as either in or out, which is reliable and reflects the transparency in the competition’s officiating.

Thammasat University adheres to the principles of justice, promotes equality, and fosters unity under the concept of “Unity of Diversity, Victory for All,” bringing together diversity for the triumph of all.
