Thammasat’s Faculty of Political Science collaborated with the University of Warsaw in Poland to initiate the Double Degree in Master program, beginning in the academic year 2025.

     Thammasat University’s Faculty of Political Science and the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Warsaw, a leading educational institution in Poland with a 200-year history, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch a ‘Double Degree’ master’s program in International Relations (MIR). The agreement aims to promote students, faculty, and researcher exchanges.

     The Faculty of Political Science, Thammasat University, led by Assoc.Prof.Dr.Puli Fuwongcharoen, Dean, Assoc.Prof.Dr.Jittipat Poonkham, Associate Dean for Academic and International Affairs, Assoc.Prof.Dr.Sunida Aroonpipat, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Kitti Prasirtsuk, and Prof.Dr.Jaran Maluleem, warmly welcomed the management team from the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw, including Professor Dr. Maciej Ras, Assistant Dean, Professor Dr. Jakub Zajaczkowski, Representative of the Dean for International Cooperation and Research, and Mr. Saroj Kumar Aryal, Head of International Cooperation Section, for a meeting and discussion on potential collaboration. This was followed by the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions. It was a great honor to have His Excellency Mr. Artur Dmochowski, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Thailand, and Ms. Monika Dmochowski, Deputy Head of Mission, as witnesses to the ceremony.

     Assoc.Prof.Dr.Puli Fuwongcharoen, Dean of the Faculty of Political Science, Thammasat University, stated that the agreement with the University of Warsaw is a success for the faculty in terms of international academic collaboration. It is the first time that the faculty has a double degree program with a university in Europe. This is a significant milestone, especially in this year, which marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the faculty. In the future, it is possible that the faculty may develop a PhD joint degree program with the University of Warsaw. He would like to extend his appreciation to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jittipat Poonkham and Prof. Dr. Kitti Prasirtsuk for their support and efforts in initiating this collaboration since the tenure of Prof. Dr. Supasawad Chardchawarn, the former dean, almost two years ago.

     According to the agreement, starting from the academic year 2025 onwards, students in the Master's degree, English program, in International Relations, (MIR) of the Faculty of Political Science, Thammasat University, will have the option to study at the faculty for one year and then continue their studies at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw, for another year before receiving two degrees from both Thammasat University and the University of Warsaw. At the same time, the two institutions will also begin exchanging undergraduate students and collaborate in sending their respective faculty members as advisors and examiners for each other's theses.
