Thammasat University has been ranked as the number one university in the world for SDG16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, reinforcing the university’s role in serving the public.

     Thammasat University is now ranked first globally for SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). Collaborating across all sectors, the university continues to leverage its expertise to foster social justice, upholding its commitment as a “University for the People.”

     The Times Higher Education (THE), a university ranking institution from the United Kingdom, announced the results of the 2026 rankings for leading universities in sustainability (SDGs) or The Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 on the morning of June 24, 2026. Thammasat University has been ranked as “number 1 in the world“ as a university that drives the Sustainable Development Goal 16 or SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, which pertains to upholding the principles of peace, justice, and strong institutions.

     Furthermore, the Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 has ranked universities worldwide that drive the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a whole. In 2026, Thammasat University achieved a total score of 92.9, moving up to the TOP 50 globally by securing the 46th position among a total of 1,603 participating institutions. This marks the second highest rank in Thailand.

     SDG 5: Ranked 6th in Thailand with a score of 75.3 and 25th in the world out of 1,095 institutions 
     SDG 11: Ranked 3rd in Thailand with a score of 85.1 and 40th in the world out of 865 institutions 
     SDG 16: Ranked 1st in Thailand with a score of 90.9 and 1st in the world out of 914 institutions 
     SDG 7: Ranked 2nd in Thailand with a score of 68.4 and 76th in the world out of 892 institutions 
     SDG 17: Ranked 5th in Thailand with a score of 92 and 55th in the world out of 1,610 institutions

     Professor Dr. Supasawad Chardchawarn, Rector of Thammasat University, stated that achieving the rank of 1st in the world for driving SDG 16 and 46th in the overall SDGs reflects the tangible results of the sincere efforts of the administration, faculty, students, and the entire Thammasat community in formulating and implementing policies that prioritize the promotion of peace, justice, the rule of law, and the establishment of strong institutions. This is accomplished through the execution of missions in education, research, academic services, and organizational management based on governance principles, leading to impactful outcomes that are genuinely tangible and internationally recognized.

     According to Assistant Professor Chol Bunnag, Director of the Research and Support Center for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG Move) and Assistant to the Rector for Quality Development and Sustainability, the success of Thammasat University in the area of SDG 16 reflects the collaborative efforts of the university community in all dimensions, including teaching, research, academic services, and management based on the principles of good governance. The shared goal is to promote justice, reduce inequality, and create a society that offers equal opportunities for everyone to participate.

     The success of Thammasat University on this occasion is the result of its steadfast commitment to the ideology of “University for the People” for over 92 years. Moving forward, Thammasat University will leverage its globally recognized knowledge and practices to support community service and address the nation’s challenges, alongside advancing issues related to law, human rights, equality, reducing disparities, and promoting public participation through education, research, and academic services.
