Thammasat University and Yala City Municipality partner to develop a credit bank curriculum, share knowledge, and support educational personnel research and development.

On October 16, 2026, Thammasat University and Yala Municipality signed an MOU at the Administration Dome, Rangsit Center, to develop the Credit Bank curriculum for local schools. The partnership aims to enhance research, teacher development, innovation, and academic services through shared resources and knowledge.

Professor Dr. Supasawad Chardchawarn, Rector of Thammasat University, expressed his pleasure at the visit from the Yala Municipality to Thammasat University, noting that it is the farthest locality to visit the university. He extended a warm welcome and hopes that this will mark the beginning of a relationship and collaboration in the field of education in the future. The emphasis that localities place on education is commendable, as the development of education requires both time and budget.

“This local initiative in educational collaboration, particularly the credit bank, will expand educational access, allowing students to explore learning options before choosing higher education. Future discussions may cover additional educational and vocational cooperation. As the first local authority to partner, Yala City Municipality hopes to launch a growing collaboration,” stated Professor Dr. Supasawad.

Mr. Yusin Jintapakorn, Deputy Mayor of Yala City Municipality, stated that many people believe education is solely the responsibility of schools and universities; however, it is actually a matter that requires the collaboration of all sectors. Yala City Municipality has consistently prioritized education, recognizing that “people” are the foundation of national development. Therefore, providing opportunities is crucial for enabling the youth to grow to their full potential and apply their knowledge to the development of their communities. Our collaboration with Thammasat University represents an important first step towards development and reducing educational disparities, beginning at the local level to open doors to more equitable opportunities at the national level.

This collaboration integrates Thammasat University’s academic knowledge with local educational development. By establishing a flexible learning framework to enhance student potential, it creates continuous educational opportunities and builds a workforce aligned with societal needs.
