Thammasat University and Thammasat Business School co-hosted “Jobs, AI, and the Next Generation” on October 12, 2026, in Bangkok during the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings to discuss AI’s impact on work, employment, and youth skills in a changing global economy.

The event was honored by the presence of Roya Rahmani, Director of Global Engagement at the World Bank Group, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Surat Teerakapibal, Dean of Thammasat Business School at Thammasat University, who delivered the opening remarks. Alongside them, Professor Dr. Phawida Pananont, a faculty member in the International Business, Logistics, and Transportation Program, Thammasat University, participated in a discussion with Mahesh Uttamchandani, Regional Practice Director for Digital & AI at the World Bank Group. The session was moderated by Khun Siratthaya Isarabhakdi, founder of Wealth Me Up, and the event concluded with remarks from Stephen N. Ndegwa, Director of the World Bank Group for Thailand and Myanmar.
The forum provided a platform for participants to exchange views on the opportunities and challenges posed by the integration of AI into the workforce, including its impact on the labor market, the necessary skills preparation for the future, and strategies to create economic opportunities accessible to all groups. The focus was on understanding the changes occurring and preparing to adapt to the working world in the age of AI.

Another important aspect is the opportunity for students from the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy at Thammasat University to participate in the forum as representatives of the Next Generation. The students not only listened to perspectives from experts at the World Bank Group but also directly exchanged ideas about the future of work from the viewpoint of the younger generation. This forum thus serves not only as a platform for imparting knowledge from experts but also as a space for reflecting the voices of the younger generation, which can be taken into consideration for developing future policy directions.
