‘Siri Witthayalak LSEd Building’ Wins Runner-Up ASEAN Energy Award 2024

     The Siri Witthayalak Building of the Faculty of Learning Sciences and Education, Thammasat University, was awarded 1st Runner-Up at the ASEAN Energy Awards 2024, a prestigious honor in the field of energy at the ASEAN level, in the category of ASEAN Best Practices for Energy Efficient Buildings (EEB) Awards for Energy Efficient Building - Tropical Building on 27 September 2024.

     Associate Professor Dr. Adisorn Chantarasuk, Dean of the Faculty of Learning Sciences and Education at Thammasat University, stated that the Siri Witthayalak Building is a modern office building. The structure is four stories high, with a total area of 6,672 square meters, distinguished by its rectangular shape. However, it does not have solid walls throughout, allowing for ventilation from all directions. The building also features skylights, which provide natural light inside without excessive reliance on electrical energy. Additionally, the design includes extended roofs and outdoor balconies on every floor to help reduce heat entering the building, reflecting a commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly architectural principles.

     Siri Witthayalak Building serves as a facility for teaching and learning management, as well as an office space for staff, faculty, and students of the Faculty of Learning Sciences and Education at Thammasat University. It accommodates undergraduate, master's, and doctoral level education across all years, providing spaces for both formal and informal learning with a sense of warmth and safety. The building, which is equipped with an environmental management system, promotes comprehensive sustainability through various policies and practices.
