Update: Thammasat University has discussed an academic collaboration with Indiana University and University of Leeds.

Thammasat and Indiana explore University-level partnership.

     Dr. Miguel E. Ayllon, Associate Vice President for International Affairs from Indiana University, USA, paid a call on Vice Rector for Administration (Tha Prachan) and International Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Surat Teerakapibal, at OIA Thammasat-Tha Prachan on 18 January 2024.

     Joining the visit with Vice President Miguel were Mr. Peter Boonjarern, Director, and Ms.  Wanlaya Pittayapitak, Program Assistant, from the Global Gateway Network, ASEAN. Thammasat participants were the OIA Director and the OIA Coordinator for the Americas.

     Currently, Indiana University and Thammasat collaborate at the Law Faculty-level in a Dual Degree program, while IU is also weaving collaboration with the Thammasat Business School in a student exchange program.

     During the meeting, Thammasat expressed a keen interest in cooperating with Indiana at the university-level. Indiana agreed to support efforts that will generate joint academic activities such as staff and student exchange programs.

     To support expanded linkups between both universities, the Indiana side discussed the feasibility of collaborating in a Dual Degree program with the British and American Studies at the Faculty of Liberal Arts.

     In addition, the Faculty of Engineering at Thammasat has developed a Dual Degree scheme that would be easy to adapt to IU, suggested the Vice Rector Surat.

     The Thammasat side also provided a briefing on its summer School program which can be customized for the needs and interests of Indiana students. Thammasat can offer a tailor-made program in the fields of Migration (Myanmar) and Hydroelectric Dams which would fit Indiana’s interests.

     รศ.ดร.สุรัตน์ ทีรฆาภิบาล รองอธิการบดีฝ่ายบริหารท่าพระจันทร์และวิเทศสัมพันธ์ ร่วมหารือกับ Dr. Miguel E. Ayllon รองอธิการบดีฝ่ายวิเทศสัมพันธ์ จาก Indiana University สหรัฐอเมริกา เมื่อวันที่ 18 มกราคม 2567 ณ มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ ท่าพระจันทร์ โดยมี ผู้อำนวยการกองวิเทศสัมพันธ์ และผู้ประสานงานภูมิภาคอเมริกา กองวิเทศสัมพันธ์ มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ รวมถึง Mr. Peter Boonjarern ผู้อำนวยการ และ Ms. Wanlaya Pittayapitak เจ้าหน้าที่จาก Global Gateway Network, ASEAN เข้าร่วมหารือด้วย

     ปัจจุบัน Indiana University (IU) มีความร่วมมือในระดับคณะกับคณะนิติศาสตร์ ในรูปแบบ Dual Degree และอยู่ระหว่างการหารือทำข้อตกลงโครงการแลกเปลี่ยนนักศึกษากับคณะพาณิชยศาสตร์และการบัญชี

     ทั้งนี้ ธรรมศาสตร์ สนใจการทำความร่วมมือในระดับมหาวิทยาลัย ซึ่งทาง Indiana เห็นว่าความร่วมมือดังกล่าวจะเป็นอีกช่องทางที่สามารถก่อให้เกิดกิจกรรมทางวิชาการร่วมกันได้ อาทิ การแลกเปลี่ยนนักศึกษา และอาจารย์ เป็นต้น

     Indiana สนใจทำความร่วมมือในรูปแบบ Dual Degree กับโครงการ BAS คณะศิลปศาสตร์ โดยได้มีการหารือในเบื้องต้นไปแล้ว นอกจากนี้ รองอธิการบดีฝ่ายบริหารท่าพระจันทร์ฯ ได้ให้ข้อมูลว่า คณะวิศวกรรมศาสตร์ มีความร่วมมือและประสบการณ์ในการทำ Dual Degree มาแล้ว ซึ่งหากสนใจทำความร่วมมือก็สามารถดำเนินการได้ง่ายและรวดเร็วยิ่งขึ้น

     ธรรมศาสตร์ ได้นำเสนอ Summer Program เพื่อรองรับนักศึกษาต่างชาติ โดยสามารถทำในรูปแบบ Customized Program ที่สามารถปรับให้เหมาะสมกับความต้องการของผู้เรียนได้ และ Indiana ให้ความสนใจเข้าร่วมโครงการเป็นอย่างมาก โดยหากธรรมศาสตร์สามารถจัดทำเป็นรูปแบบ Customized program ได้ ทาง IU ให้ความสนใจในหัวข้อ Migration (Myanmar), Hydroelectric Dam เป็นต้น

Thammasat and Leeds discuss partnership renewal.

     Ms. Premila Kanapathy, Director of the SEA Regional Office (in Malaysia) of the University of Leeds (UK), was welcomed to Thammasat-Tha Prachan by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sirirat Na Ranong, Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs (Tha Prachan Campus) and International Affairs at the Faculty of Liberal Arts, along with the OIA Director and the OIA Coordinator for Europe, on 16 January 2024.

     Both sides discussed the renewal of academic collaboration at the university level and considered the possibility of enhancing the “1+2.5 or 2+2” Doctoral Degree Program

     Thammasat and Leeds currently collaborate at the Liberal Arts Faculty-level under an MOA in a “3+1” program in the field of Business Communication (BC). In addition, the Associate Dean was eager to further enhance cooperation with a “3+1” program in British and American Studies (BAS), as well as joint research in Digital Humanities, AI, and Technology Translation.

     Leeds also expressed a keen interest in cooperating with the Faculty of Law in a “4+1” program which the Thammasat OIA will convey to the Faculty of Law.  The UK-based university was also interested in conducting collaborative research in Business, Literature, Economics, and Political Science.

     ทั้งสองฝ่ายหารือการต่ออายุสัญญาระดับมหาวิทยาลัย พร้อมหารือความเป็นไปได้ในการทำความร่วมมือในการทำหลักสูตรปริญญาเอก รูปแบบ 1+2.5 หรือ แบบ 2+2

     Leeds มีความสนใจการทำความร่วมมือกับคณะนิติศาสตร์ ในการทำหลักสูตร 4+1 นอกจากนี้ ยังสนใจด้านการทำวิจัยร่วมในสาขา Business, Literature, Economics และ Political

     ปัจจุบัน คณะศิลปศาสตร์ เป็นคู่สัญญากับ Leeds โดยมีการทำความร่วมมือในรูปแบบ 3+1 ภายใต้ MOA หลักสูตร Business Communication (BC) และประสงค์ทำหลักสูตร British and American Studies (BAS) ในรูปแบบ 3+1 ร่วมกันในอนาคต นอกจากนี้ผู้แทนจากคณะศิลปศาสตร์ ยังให้ความสนใจในด้านการวิจัยร่วม โดยเฉพาะสาขา Digital Humanities, AI, Technology translation

Laos Educational-Cultural Counsellor visits Thammasat to promote bonds.

     On 11 January 2024, Mr. Vilavath Thephithack, Educational-Cultural Counsellor, and representatives from the Embassy of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Bangkok paid a courtesy call on Assoc. Prof. Dr. Surat Teerakapibal, Vice Rector for Administration (Tha Prachan) and International Affairs on the occasion of the Counsellor’s assumption of duty.

     After the Vice Rector greeted and congratulated Mr. Vilavath on his new position, the Counsellor expressed his appreciation to Thammasat University for its unwavering support extended to students from the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

     During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in academic programs and with scholarships at the graduate level for students, entrepreneurs, and government officials of the Lao PDR.

     The Educational-Cultural Counsellor also met Lao students who have been studying in Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degree programs at Thammasat University and gave his advice on studying and living in Thailand.

     เมื่อวันที่ 10 มกราคม 2567 Mr. Vilavath Thephithack ที่ปรึกษาเอกอัครราชทูตฝ่ายการศึกษาและวัฒนธรรม พร้อมด้วยผู้แทนจากสถานเอกอัครราชทูตสาธารณรัฐประชาธิปไตยประชาชนลาวประจำประเทศไทย เดินทางเข้าเยี่ยมคารวะ รศ.ดร.สุรัตน์ ทีรฆาภิบาล รองอธิการบดีฝ่ายบริหารท่าพระจันทร์และวิเทศสัมพันธ์ ในโอกาสเข้ารับตำแหน่งใหม่

     Mr. Vilavath Thephithack ได้กล่าวแสดงความขอบคุณที่มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ให้การสนับสนุนนักศึกษาลาวขณะที่เรียน ณ ธรรมศาสตร์ เป็นอย่างดีเสมอมา

     ทั้งสองฝ่ายร่วมหารือแนวทางการเพิ่มพูนความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างกัน โดยเฉพาะโครงการทางวิชาการและทุนการศึกษา สำหรับนักศึกษาระดับบัณฑิตศึกษา รวมถึงการสนับสนุนด้านกิจการของผู้ประกอบการชาวลาวและหน่วยงานราชการของลาว

     โดยท่านที่ปรึกษาเอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้พบปะและพูดคุยกับนักศึกษาลาว ที่กำลังศึกษา ณ ธรรมศาสตร์ ทั้งในระดับปริญญาตรีและบัณฑิตศึกษา พร้อมให้คำแนะนำเรื่องการศึกษาและการใช้ชีวิตในระหว่างเรียนที่ประเทศไทย
