Update: Thammasat University has discussed an academic collaboration with Ambassador of Bhutan, at the Royal Bhutanese Embassy in Bangkok.

Thammasat University Strengthens Ties with Bhutan in Diplomatic Visit

     On October 16, 2024, a delegation from Thammasat University, led by Assoc. Prof. Supreedee Rittironk, Vice Rector for International Affairs, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Thanyaporn Soontornthum, Director of the Thammasat Institute of Area Studies (TIARA), paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Kinzang Dorji, Ambassador of Bhutan, at the Royal Bhutanese Embassy in Bangkok. The delegation was warmly welcomed by the Ambassador, along with Mr. Karma Tshosar, Deputy Chief of Mission, and Mr. Sonam Palden, Second Secretary.

     Both sides expressed their deep satisfaction with the longstanding relationship between Thammasat University and Bhutan, highlighting the continued support for Bhutanese students through Thammasat’s scholarship programs. The discussion also reflected on a key milestone in June 2024, when Thammasat University conferred an honorary doctoral degree in Creative Development upon His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan. The delegation for that ceremony was led by Prof. Woothisarn Tanchai, Vice Chairman of the University Council, and Prof. Dr. Supasawad Chardchawarn, the Rector of Thammasat University, and included a visit to the Royal University of Bhutan.

     During the productive meeting, both parties explored future collaboration, including the establishment of Thailand’s first Bhutan Studies Center at Thammasat’s Rangsit campus, to be overseen by TIARA. This initiative marks a significant step in enhancing academic and cultural ties between the two nations.

     เมื่อวันที่ 16 ตุลาคม 2567 รศ. ดร.สุปรีดี ฤทธิรงค์ รองอธิการบดีฝ่ายวิเทศสัมพันธ์ มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ และ ผศ. ดร.ธันยพร สุนทรธรรม ผู้อำนวยการสถาบันอาณาบริเวณศึกษา เยี่ยมคารวะ H.E. Mr. Kinzang Dorji เอกอัครราชทูตอาณาจักรภูฏานประจำประเทศไทย ณ สถานทูตภูฏานประจำประเทศไทย โดยมี Mr. Karma Tshosar, Deputy Chief of Mission และ Mr. Sonam Palden, Second Secretary เข้าร่วมต้อนรับ

     โดยทั้งสองฝ่าย แสดงความชื่นชมยินดีต่อความสัมพันธ์อันยาวนานระหว่างมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์และราชอาณาจักรภูฏาน โดยเฉพาะการสนับสนุนทุนการศึกษาสำหรับนักศึกษาภูฏานอย่างต่อเนื่อง อีกทั้งยังได้โอกาสรำลึกถึงโอกาสสำคัญที่ผู้แทนธรรมศาสตร์ นำโดย ศ. วุฒิสาร ตันไชย รองประธานสภามหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ พร้อมด้วย ศ. ดร.ศุภสวัสดิ์ ชัชวาลย์ อธิการบดีมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ และคณะผู้บริหาร ที่ได้เดินทางเยือนภูฏาน ในเดือนมิถุนายน 2567 เพื่อทูลเกล้าฯ ถวายปริญญากิตติมศักดิ์ สาขาการพัฒนาเชิงสร้างสรรค์ แด่สมเด็จพระราชาธิบดี จิกมี เคเซอร์ นัมเกล วังชุก ซึ่งในโอกาสเดียวกัน คณะผู้แทนธรรมศาสตร์ ยังได้เยือน the Royal University of Bhutan เพื่อหารือความร่วมมือด้วย

     ระหว่างการเยือน ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้หารือแนวทางการพัฒนาการทำงานร่วมกันในอนาคต เช่น การก่อตั้งศูนย์ภูฏานศึกษาแห่งแรกของไทย ณ มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ ศูนย์รังสิต ภายใต้การดูแลของสถาบันอาณาบริเวณศึกษา ซึ่งการริเริ่มนี้ นับเป็นก้าวสำคัญในการส่งเสริมความสัมพันธ์และความร่วมมือ ทั้งในด้านวิชาการและวัฒนธรรม ระหว่างสองประเทศ

Thammasat University Strengthens Ties with Japanese Partners at Rangsit Campus.

     On October 16, 2024, Dr. Usanee Lertrattananon, Assistant to the Rector for International Affairs, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chaiwat Meesanthan, Director of the Institute of East Asian Studies, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Chaiwatt Mansrisuk, Director of the Center for Japan Studies, welcomed Ms. Maki Kawamura, Counsellor of the Japanese Embassy, as well as Mr. Masayuki Kuriyama, Director-General, and staff from the Japan Foundation in Bangkok to Thammasat University's Rangsit Campus.

     The meeting served as an opportunity to review and update information on ongoing exchange programs, including student exchange numbers, while celebrating the successful collaboration among the Japanese Embassy, the Institute of East Asian Studies, and the Center for Japan Studies. Their joint initiatives, such as the Japan Festival 2023 and other academic activities, were highlighted as milestones of their cooperation.

     In addition, both parties discussed strategies to enhance Thailand-Japan relations and expand cultural and academic opportunities for Thammasat students. Plans include organizing cultural events, seminars, special lectures, and offering scholarships to deepen bilateral ties.

     During the visit, the Japan Foundation introduced its new initiative, the “WA Project 2.0,” which focuses on promoting exchange among the next generation and developing human resources across Japan and ASEAN countries. Thammasat University emphasized the importance of this collaboration and sought further support from the Japanese side, particularly in enhancing student exchanges and scholarship opportunities.

ธรรมศาสตร์ หารือหน่วยงานญี่ปุ่น เพื่อส่งเสริมความร่วมมือและความสัมพันธ์ไทย-ญี่ปุ่น

     เมื่อวันที่ 16 ตุลาคม 2567 มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ นำโดย ดร. อุษณีษ์ เลิศรัตนานนท์ ผู้ช่วยอธิการบดีฝ่ายวิเทศสัมพันธ์ พร้อมกับ รศ. ดร.ชัยวัฒน์ มีสันฐาน ผู้อำนวยการสถาบันเอเชียตะวันออกศึกษา และ ผศ. ดร. ชัยวัฒน์ ม่านศรีสุข ผู้อำนวยการศูนย์ญี่ปุ่นศึกษา ต้อนรับและหารือกับ Ms. Maki Kawamura ที่ปรึกษาจากสถานเอกอัครราชทูตญี่ปุ่นประจำประเทศไทย พร้อมด้วย Mr. Masayuki Kuriyama ผู้อำนวยการ The Japan Foundation และเจ้าหน้าที่จากทั้งสองหน่วยงาน ในโอกาสเยือนมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ ศูนย์รังสิต

     การพบหารือครั้งนี้ ได้แลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็นและข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับสถานการณ์การแลกเปลี่ยนนักศึกษาและสถิติที่เกี่ยวข้อง นอกจากนี้ยังได้ร่วมแสดงความยินดีในความสำเร็จของการจัดกิจกรรมที่ผ่านมาของ 3 ฝ่าย อาทิ การจัดนิทรรศการเกี่ยวกับญี่ปุ่น ในปี 2566 และกิจกรรมทางวิชาการอื่น ๆ ระหว่างสถานทูตฯ และสถาบันเอเชียตะวันออกศึกษา และศูนย์ญี่ปุ่นศึกษา ซึ่งเป็นการเริ่มต้นความร่วมมือที่ดี

     ทั้งสองฝ่าย ยังได้หารือแนวทางการส่งเสริมความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างไทยและญี่ปุ่น ด้านวัฒนธรรมและวิชาการ เช่น การจัดกิจกรรมส่งเสริมแลกเปลี่ยนวัฒนธรรม สัมมนา การบรรยายพิเศษ และโอกาสทางทุนการศึกษา สำหรับนักศึกษาธรรมศาสตร์ เพื่อส่งเสริมความร่วมมือให้แข็งแกร่งยิ่งขึ้น

     หลังจากนั้น The Japan Foundation ได้แนะนำและให้ข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับโครงการ “WA Project 2.0,” ซึ่งมุ่งเน้นสนับสนุนการแลกเปลี่ยนระดับประชาชนจากรุ่นสู่รุ่น รวมถึงการพัฒนาทรัพยากรมนุษย์ในภูมิภาคอาเซียน โดยฝ่ายธรรมศาสตร์ ได้ให้ความสำคัญกับความร่วมมือนี้เช่นกัน พร้อมยินดีรับการสนับสนุนจากฝ่ายญี่ปุ่น เพื่อสร้างโอกาสการแลกเปลี่ยนนักศึกษาและทุนการศึกษาสำหรับนักศึกษาธรรมศาสตร์
