Update: The Office of International Affairs at Thammasat University officially kicked off “Thammasat Summer School 2023”

     The Office of International Affairs at Thammasat University officially kicked off “Thammasat Summer School 2023” on 3 July 2023 after an orientation which provided comprehensive information on 29 June 2023.

     “Thammasat Summer School 2023” program is a fee-paying program that offers a unique opportunity for international students across the region to undertake one or two optional study modules equivalent to a maximum of 6 credits at Thammasat University, Tha Prachan, Bangkok.

     Enrolled students undertake a variety of study methods to explore, research and discuss key elements and strategies to make their business models in Thailand successful.  They are also provided in-depth interactive courses from professional instructors, with company visits and cultural activities to gain invaluable business and cultural experiences.  Equally as crucial, students are exposed to other participants from a diverse background of regional cultures and business contexts to complement their new skills, insight and understanding of business practices in Thailand. 

Two learning modules are offered during the summer program:   

     ▪️ Module 1: TU 233 Business Opportunities in Thailand 3 - 14 July 2023

     ▪️ Module 2: TU 109 Innovations and Entrepreneurial Mindset 15 – 29 July 2023

     Students who successfully satisfy the program requirements receive a Thammasat transcript that may be used for credit transfer at their home universities.

     On 15 July 2023, Grand Palace tour & Sightseeing around Bang Lamphu community Inter-students from Thammasat’s Summer School 2023 (Modules 1 & 2) were guided on a cultural tour of the Emerald Buddha Temple and the Grand Palace as an introduction to the history of Thai architecture. During the tour, students gained insights into mural painting and stucco arts, presented by an official expert guide from the Thai Royal Palace.

     In the afternoon, the students visited Bang Lamphu Museum. They were led on a “Talk and Walk” which featured the trail of the city walls: the architectural history of Bang lamphu district and Wat Sungkwej School of Printing where they learned about the history of printing in Thailand at the first school to systematically teach the practice of printing in Thailand, a printing house for textbooks, the history of money, and more.

     Afterwards, the Thammasat group took a walk around the Bang Lamphu area, a vibrant community in the old town that offers many sites of historical and cultural importance. They wrapped up their tour with a visit to such notable places as Santi Chai Prakan Park, Wat Bowonniwet Vihara, and the Chao Por Nu shrine. The tour was conducted by staff of the Bang Lamphu Museum.

     On 16 July 2023, the Thammasat group embarked on a short, one-day excursion to Ayutthaya province. Starting with a historical and cultural tour of Ayutthaya Historical Park, the students received a briefing, featuring an overview of the Ayutthaya Empire to have enough information to play a Route Check game (RC game).

     To help inter-students get a feel of what it was like to be back in Ayutthaya, they were fitted out with traditional Thai clothing. Visiting historical sites in traditional Thai costumes is going viral and becoming more popular among local and international tourists.  Wearing traditional attire to post photographs at popular check-in spots promotes not only an enjoyment of Thai cultural heritage, but as a tourist trend, it boosts the thriving Thai costume rental businesses and the local area’s economy. This business trend adds to a hands-on understanding of the business and economic situation in Thailand, a goal of the courses offered by the Thammasat Summer School 2023.

     In addition, The TU group also visited historic temples, including Wat Chaiwatthanaram, Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, Wat Suwandararam Ratchawihan, Wat Ratchaburana, Wat Mahathat, Wat Phukhao Thong, and Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon. To top off the day’s experience, the TU visitors enjoyed elephant riding at the Ayutthaya Elephant Camp.

     On 21 July 2023, Inter-students from Thammasat’s Summer School 2023 (Module 2) visited Taratera Corporation Co., Ltd in Samut Songkhram province. They were briefed by Mr. Kajkanit Sakdisubha, CEO & Founder, on the features and goals of the company’s cannabis lab, including cannabis research and the study of genetics for the suitable cultivation of cannabis in Thailand as well as providing safe products that meet international standards. As Kajkanit explained, his motivation and passion to enter the cannabis industry is to extend its medical value to the wider public since Kajkanit himself experienced his father self-prescribing cannabis to reduce the pain of chemotherapy’s side effects when the plant was illegal and garnered negative social taboos at the time.

     During the laboratory tour, students were provided information about the “One-Stop Service” business model relevant to cannabis studies for medical support firms, education institutes and entrepreneurs who are interested in start-ups and SME businesses under the updated regulations in Thailand. Currently, Taratera’s shop, named the Dispensary by Taratera on Silom Road, has become quite popular among Thais and foreigner visitors, offering them healing and relaxation from farms across the country.

     In the afternoon, the Thammasat group returned to the Bang Bon area in Bangkok to visit the Hay Equestrian Center & Eatery which provides horse-riding lessons for riders of all abilities (both Dressage and Jumping classes). The visitors were given a presentation entitled “The Entrepreneurial Journey: The Hay” featuring the inspiration to set up a family-run business by using the Eliminate-Reduce-Raise-Create framework (ERRC). The Hay targets families with children and offers a full package of horseback riding with experienced instructors in a safe and comfortable atmosphere. Riding a horse helps to instill confidence in young children and provides both physical and mental benefits. While the kids are “horsing around” outside, parents can relax and socialize in a huge open restaurant with high giant glass-windows.

หลักสูตร Thammasat International Summer School สำหรับนักศึกษาต่างชาติ

     กองวิเทศสัมพันธ์ มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ ได้เริ่มเปิดเรียนอย่างเป็นทางการสำหรับหลักสูตร Thammasat Summer School 2023 ในวันที่ 3 กรกฎาคม 2566 ที่ผ่านมา หลังจากนักศึกษาต่างชาติได้เข้าร่วมงานปฐมนิเทศนักศึกษา ในวันที่ 30 มิถุนายน 2566 สำหรับการเตรียมความพร้อมก่อนเข้าเรียน

     “Thammasat Summer School 2023” เป็นโปรแกรมแบบจ่ายค่าเล่าเรียน พร้อมเปิดโอกาสให้นักศึกษาต่างชาติจากทั่วโลกได้เลือกเรียน 1 หรือ 2 โมดูล ซึ่งเทียบเท่า 6 หน่วยกิต หลักสูตรนี้เปิดสอน ณ มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ ท่าพระจันทร์

     นอกจากนักศึกษาจะได้องค์ความรู้ด้านการบริหารธุรกิจในห้องเรียนผ่านการแลกเปลี่ยน ศึกษาค้นคว้า และการสอนจากอาจารย์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญ เพื่อเป็นแนวทางการทำธุรกิจให้ประสบความสำเร็จในประเทศไทยแล้ว นักศึกษายังได้เรียนรู้จากภายนอกห้องเรียนควบคู่ไปด้วย ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการศึกษาดูงานในบริษัทเอกชนชั้นนำของประเทศไทย พร้อมด้วยการเรียนรู้ด้านศิลปวัฒนธรรมไทย ณ สถานที่ประวัติศาสตร์สำคัญของประเทศไทยที่สำคัญยิ่งไปกว่านั้น การได้เรียนที่ธรรมศาสตร์ภายใต้ความหลากหลายของเชื้อชาติและวัฒนธรรมของผู้เรียน รวมถึงความแตกต่างทางด้านพื้นฐานแนวคิดด้านบริหารธุรกิจภายใต้บริบทของประเทศตนเอง จะทำให้นักศึกษาได้เรียนรู้ประสบการณ์และมุมมองใหม่ ๆ ในหลากหลายมิติ เพื่อเพิ่มพูนทักษะความรู้ด้านการทำธุรกิจในประเทศไทย ภายใต้ 2 โมดูล ประกอบด้วย
